Retro football shirts: why the classics are back

Some shirts never leave. Decades after their season, they are still worn in the stands, in the street and on five-a-side pitches. Retro shirts went from collector's item to everyday style, and the reason goes far beyond nostalgia.

What turns a shirt into a classic

Three things usually come together: a memorable team or season, a design that broke with what came before, and a sponsor or detail that marks an era. When all three meet, the shirt stops belonging to one season and becomes part of football history.

Why they came back

  • Designs with personality: bold collars, geometric patterns and big sponsors that stand out from far away.
  • Memory: the shirt of the title you watched as a kid, or the one your father or mother used to wear.
  • Style: a retro shirt works with jeans and trainers as well as it works on match day.

Clubs and national teams

The retro clubs collection brings classics from Europe and Brazil, from AC Milan, Arsenal, Bayern München and Paris Saint-Germain to Flamengo and Corinthians. The retro national teams collection covers the World Cup shirts that marked generations, like France 1998, Italy 2006 and the Netherlands 1998.

How to choose yours

  • The season you remember: the year of a title, a final or your first time at the stadium.
  • The design you like the most: sometimes the away shirt of a season is more striking than the home one.
  • The sleeve: many classics also come in a long sleeve version, perfect for autumn and winter.

Which size

Our retro shirts use the same measurement table as the fan version, so your usual size normally works. In size M, for example, the shirt is 55 to 57 cm wide and 71 to 73 cm long. Before ordering, open the SIZE GUIDE on the product page and compare it with a shirt you own, as explained in our size guide.

Name and number of the era

Retro shirts can also be customized. Many fans choose the name and number of the idol of that season, which completes the look of the time. Up to 15 letters and 2 digits, as explained in our customization guide.

How to wear a retro shirt today

With straight jeans and white trainers, a retro shirt is a complete outfit. With a jacket open on top, it becomes the highlight. On a cold day, a long sleeve retro shirt under a windbreaker keeps the style and the warmth.

A gift that tells a story

The shirt of a title that someone celebrated years ago is one of the most personal gifts you can give a fan. Ask which season they remember most and look for it in the collection.

Caring for a classic

Inside out, cold water, no tumble dryer and no iron over the crest or the sponsor. See the full routine in our washing guide.
